FREE SPORT CHALET CLIMBING WALL
All
visitors to the show have a FREE chance to try their hand (…and
feet!) on the Sport Chalet Rock Climbing Wall right on the
show floor! The show will host professionally trained instructors
who will be on hand to make the climb safe and easy for children,
as well as, adults. Just for fun and to check you pre-season

indoor Ski School Ramp right at the show! Bring a novice or
beginner to the show and professional instructors will give them
their first lesson. This is a great way to put a friend or family
member on the road to skiing in a friendly and fun atmosphere.

professional instruction from this premier Lake Tahoe resort’s own
Heavenly Ski & Ride School.
THE GOOD DOGS ALWAYS WEAR WHITE
Our
friendly Snow Dog mascot greets you at Jeep®
display at the show entrance. A remarkable pure white female
German Shepherd, named "Shasta" carries a “badge” and is looking
to rescue hikers, skiers or snowboarders in distress. This
amazing animal is a K9 member of the California Rescue Dogs
Association, Lake Tahoe Avalanche Rescue Association and
Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dogs Association and is being
trained to locate lost or missing people in and around the
mountains of California.
Shasta learned to ride the
chairlifts and can be air-lifted to remote areas by helicopter to
search for lost hikers, snowboarders and skiers. But, mostly,
Shasta enjoys racing down ski runs following her owner, playing
with the kids and adults during Ski School breaks, and as a member
of the Ski Patrol, joyriding in helicopters and snowcats.
Rick Strasser, is Shasta’s owner
and trainer, and has been a member of various emergency and rescue
services for over twenty years. Rick is currently the Commander
of the Kern County Sheriff’s Department Search Canine Unit, a
Canine Specialist for the State of California & The U.S National
Parks Service based in King’s & Kern Counties. Strasser, has been
instrumental in the safe rescue of hundreds of careless or unlucky
hikers, winter sport enthusiasts, lost children… and adults.
Shasta
and Rick personally welcome
show attendees, demonstrating how these canine heroes (& their
trainers!) safeguard our lives and quickly capture our hearts.
